In one of the largest enterprise transactions of 2004, Compass Advisers served as exclusive advisor to OAO LUKOIL's senior management in a strategic alliance between ConocoPhillips and LUKOIL. The transaction included a $2 billion equity investment and a $1 billion joint venture in western Siberia and was supported by the Russian and American governments. Compass Advisers also executed InBev's €800 million acquisition of a 98.5% economic interest in SUN Interbrew Ltd., negotiating the purchase of voting and non-voting shares in SUN Interbrew from Russia's Alfa-Eco Group and India's SUN Trade (International) Ltd.
Compass Advisers has provided strategic advice to a Russian Do-It-Yourself retailer regarding funding for potential real estate opportunities, collaborated with a leading Russian meat processing company regarding strategic alternatives and a potential recapitalization, and negotiated potential joint ventures with one of the world's largest commodity traders as it explores opportunities to create one of the largest standalone Russian grain exporters. Mr. Goldberg currently serves as a Director of AGRICO, a Russia-based crop and livestock production agribusiness.
