Gabor Szabo

Gabor Szabo is an Associate based in Compass Advisers' New York office.
Since joining Compass as an Analyst in August 2007, Mr. Szabo has worked on a variety of financial and strategic advisory assignments serving public and private companies, government entities, large conglomerates, and entrepreneurs in diverse geographies including the US, Canada, UK, Italy, Norway, Turkey, Israel, India, Singapore, China and South Korea.
Mr. Szabo's project experience includes buy-side and sell-side M&A assignments, capital raises and fairness opinions in numerous industries such as consumer products, food & retail; energy; industrials; media; real estate and technology. He has particular experience in real estate, and has served clients for a range of property types and developments including retail (outlet and shopping centers), residential, hotel, and net lease properties.
Prior to joining Compass, Mr. Szabo, was a summer Project Manager at Verton Ltd. in Budapest and, previously, an intern at UBS Financial Services' New York office. He also completed a summer internship at New York‑based global real estate development firm, TriBeach Holdings.
Mr. Szabo graduated magna cum laude from Iona College with concentrations in finance and economics, where he competed in two Division I sports: swimming and water-polo. Mr. Szabo was a three event all‑time record holder, a four time all‑American, and a Junior World Cup bronze medalist athlete, as well as a former member of Hungarian water polo club, Vasas SC.
A native of Hungary, Mr. Szabo is fluent in Hungarian and has lived and studied in Budapest, Melbourne, Chicago, Honolulu and New York.
